03/17/2010 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Boston Celtics are closing in on their third straight Atlantic Division title and will face another inferior opponent tonight on St. Patrick's Day against the New York Knicks at TD Garden.
Boston rebounded from a loss to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers over the weekend by routing the Detroit Pistons, 119-93, on Monday in Beantown. Paul Pierce was one of three Boston players to record at least 15 points, while Ray Allen and newcomer Michael Finley also pumped in 15 for the Celtics, who had dropped three of four games before the recent triumph and pushed their home mark to 20-12 this season.
"We were a totally different team today, came in with a lot more energy, a lot more aggressive," said Celtics center Kevin Garnett, who posted 14 points and eight rebounds. "We had five guys who were aggressive. I thought that our bench was aggressive also. We had to talk amongst each other, and we just game out and played."
Glen Davis scored 13 points in a winning effort. Boston has won six of nine contests this month and sits fourth in the conference standings, just a game behind the third-seeded Atlanta Hawks. Pierce, meanwhile, is two games shy of tying Sam Jones (871) for ninth place on the team's all-time games played list. Don Nelson is eighth at 872 games, while Larry Bird sits seventh with 897 contests played.
New York will shoot for its third straight win when it closes out a five-game road trip this evening. It improved to 2-2 on the trek following Monday's 94-84 victory at Philadelphia thanks to 21 points from Danilo Gallinari.
Toney Douglas added 20 points and seven assists for the Knicks, who were coming off Saturday's victory at Dallas that snapped the Mavs' 13-game winning streak. New York hadn't won consecutive games since a three-game streak from January 1-7.
"He's playing well, he's giving us a lot of energy," Knicks head coach Mike D'Antoni said of Douglas.
The Knicks are 10-22 away from Madison Square Garden this season.
Boston and New York are playing the third of four matchups this season, as the Knicks are slated to host the Celtics on April 6. The C's have won the first two meetings and three straight overall in this series.
New York has lost six straight after winning its last two in Beantown.

MySportsbook.com favors Bears, Bengals, Chargers and Colts to remain perfect
LAS VEGAS , Sept. 28 - Two big match-ups of undefeated teams have fans salivating at the Week Four schedule in the NFL. The Chicago Bears stifling defense looks to provide a less than hospitable welcome to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night in a battle of two 3-0 teams in the NFC conference. In the AFC, the San Diego Chargers (2-0) head to Maryland to face the surprising Baltimore Ravens (3-0) as both try to keep pace atop the conference standings. Betting Lines makers at MySportsbook.com, online sportsbook and casino, have set the Bears as 3.5 point favorites while the Chargers are a 2.5 point bet.
Of the three remaining undefeated teams, only one, New Orleans, enters this week's game as an underdog. Despite an emotional and resounding win over Atlanta on Monday night, the Saints are a 7.5 point underdog against the struggling Carolina Panthers. Indianapolis looks to stay perfect when they face the New York Jets as a 9 point road favorite while the Cincinnati Bengals are a 6 point favorite at home to the New England Patriots.
Six teams enter the week still looking for their first win, with a seventh, Tampa Bay, on a bye week. The prospect of dropping another game would not bode well for a potential playoff run. Since 1990, just three teams -- the 1992 Chargers, 1995 Detroit Lions and 1998 Buffalo Bills -- have overcome losing their first three games of the season to earn a postseason berth. And only the Chargers managed to accomplish the feat after starting 0-4.
